This premium, wooden tea caddy is a masterpiece of Japanese lacquerware. Made from mizume sakura - Japanese hornbeam wood, and coated with traditional Japanese maki-e lacquer decoration.
Maki-e lacquerware features pictures and patterns drawn with lacquer, and then sprinkled with powdered metal (typically gold or silver). This particular tea caddy is adorned with a Japanese maple leaf and sakura cherry blossom pattern, alluding to the changing seasons by highlighting the symbols of spring and autumn in Japan.
This tea canister was designed to store tea leaves and keep them fresh, but can also be used for coffee, sugar, or anything else that you'd like to keep in a cool, dry container.
