Chinsuko Biscuits, or Okinawan Shortbread Biscuits, have been made in Okinawa since the Ryukyu Kingdom. Besides having a long history, these shortbread-type biscuits have a delightfully sweet flavor and crispy texture.

Chinsuko’s main ingredients are typically lard, flour, and sugar, giving them a crumbly texture. But this variation of chinsuko includes Yukishio (snow salt) from Miyakojima island in Okinawa, so it has a slightly salty aftertaste.

Yukishio, or snow salt, is extracted by pumping underground water from the Okinawan island of Miyakojima and has high mineral contents and a powdery texture.

If you’re a lover of sweet and salty snacks or are looking for a new afternoon snack, then you’ve got to try these Yukishio Chinsuko biscuits! They also pair perfectly with a cup of coffee.

Nanpudo Yukishio Chinsuko is one of the most popular souvenirs to buy and take back home when visiting Okinawa.

    DELICIOUS

Tried several brands of chinsuko - this 1 is the best yet. Soft and crumbly with a hint of salt. Pricing on this site is so much better than most others. Would be great if JT could carried the MILK flavor

    good taste, sweeter than expected

These are delicious. They are packaged in individual packages of two small cookies each which is a perfect amount.

They are sweeter than I expected, and normally I prefer less sweet but these seem like a good amount. Sweeter than a typical shortbread but not super sweet.

    Great crumbly shortbread

Best shortbread I've had in a while, perfectly buttery and granular texture from the sugar. I have packet a day as a treat with tea. The box has a good amount and they are currently on sale! I'm curious to try the other flavors of chinsuko Japanese Taste carries.
