This useful colander from Tsubame, Niigata - the home of Japanese kitchenware - is packed with features, and made from mesh, rather than punched steel.
This colander offers a finer mesh than a typical kitchen colander, which means that it's not only ideal for washing fruits and vegetables, but ideal for straining foods too. The tiny holes ensure that smaller foods, like angel hair pasta, and rice, won't wash away with the water.
The two handles on either side make it easy to hold and to rest atop a bowl or pot, if you want to keep the liquid you're straining. In addition, the legs allow it to stand upright in the sink, so that you can use your hands for washing fruit and vegetables, or holding the pot you're pouring through it.
