Kuretake was founded as a black ink manufacturer in 1902. In the 1960s, they began making markers and pens, and in the 1980s they began making paints and painting supplies.
Now, Kuretake is a popular brand of color markers, calligraphy pens and watercolor paints.
Their calligraphy pens look like regular, luxury fountain pens, but instead of a metal nip, they have a brush, so you can paint the ink on the page or canvas like with a traditional Japanese calligraphy set.
